Windsor Health Plan names new president
Dr. Hassan Rifaat has been named president of Nashville-based Windsor Health Plan.

Rifaat will be responsible for all business activities for Windsor Health Plan, which manages more than 157,000 health care customers in 28 states.

Windsor Health Plan is a Medicare Advantage plan operated by Atlanta-based Windsor Health Group.

SARTA's MedTech looking for medical innovators for awards
MedStart, an economic development effort by the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance, seeks nominations for the third annual Claire Pomeroy Awards for Innovation in Medical Technology.

The awards recognize individuals in the nine-county region whose innovative inventions, products or designs have transformed some important aspect of the practice of medicine or the delivery of health-care services by improving efficiency, safety, efficacy or accessibility.

Centene Q4 profit rises 19%

Centene Corp. reported today that its fourth-quarter profit rose 18.6 percent to $30.1 million, compared with a profit of $25.4 million in the prior-year's quarter.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31, Centene reported total revenue of $1.5 billion, up 27.6 percent from total revenue of nearly $1.2 billion in the fourth quarter of 2010.

The Medicaid managed-care provider said its premium and service revenue grew 29.1 percent in the recent quarter to $1.5 billion, primarily due to new operations added last year in Mississippi, Illinois and Kentucky; expansion in Texas; and total membership growth...
