- Tree Friendly LTC Insurance
Do you have enough in your retirement savings to live in the assisted living home of your choice? What if you want home care? Long term care insurance is designed to provide you help with these services due to a long term illness or long term disability.
Now there is a company that is throwing out all the paper and doing it completely online. According to www.prnewswire.com, "Dispense with the paper and the delay; complete an electronic application, with live hand-holding, and get an answer pronto. The agency is LTC Financial Partners LLC (LTCFP), one of the nation's most experienced long term care insurance agencies."
"The move beyond paper extends LTCFP's earlier move toward technological efficiency. In June, 2008, the company announced "going green" to save time and millions of gallons of gasoline per year -- through telephone interviews in place of the traditional in-home interview. The program offered convenience to consumers and doubled the productivity of some of LTCFP's agents, which numbered in the hundreds. In addition, the program eliminated long, gas-guzzling drives to consumers' homes."

- Water Damage or Flood?
Unfortunately, a lot of people do not have flood insurance. When water damage happens to one's house due to a flood, they are often left with a mess and no help from the insurance company. But, it is still important to contact your insurance company if you sustain water damage because sometimes you may have coverage for water damage depending on the situation.
Water damage is covered under a homeowners insurance policy if the problem is due to a storm, such as a tree falling on your roof then rain coming in. So, even if there are storms then a flood, you should be able to get coverage for the water damage due to the storm damage, but the flood damage will only be covered under a flood insurance policy.

- California to Consider Pet Insurance Reform
According to the Associated Press, "Democratic stateAssemblyman Dave Jones, who is running for state insurance commissioner in the November election, said some of the same practices being corrected by the recently enacted federal health care overhaul are used by pet insurance companies, including denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions."
"Jones has introduced a bill that would make pet insurers post detailed information on their websites so consumers can see exactly what is covered and what is not. They could then compare options, just as if they were buying insurance for themselves in a post-health reform world."

- LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program
What a great program to spread the word about. It is the LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program. Here is some info from their website:
"Paying for college is a major financial challenge for most American families, but it becomes infinitely more difficult when a parent dies at an early age. Typically, parents can be counted on to provide at least some financial support for college. But when they're gone and can no longer lend a financial hand, college often seems out of reach for many young people. LIFE takes great pride in being able to help deserving young people realize their dream of achieving a college education."
"LIFE Lessons also provides the LIFE Foundation with the opportunity to help all parents understand the important role that life insurance plays within a sound college-funding plan. Parents' dreams of a college education for their children don't need to die when they do. If parents account for college funding in their life insurance planning, they can take comfort in knowing that their children will have the chance to pursue a higher education and realize their full potential."

- Insurance Tip for the Week: Learn About Short Term and Temporary Health Insurance
Short term or temporary health insurance is health insurance that just lasts for a certain period of time, typically 6-12 months but sometimes policies are as short as 30 days. Short term health insurance works the same as long term health insurance.
Depending on the policy, you will get a health insurance card and will have a deductible and limits on services. Although short term health insurance works the same as long term health insurance, one needs to realize that there is a major difference in coverage.

- Is Your Insurance Agent a Facebook Friend?
I am sure by now you heard about what happened to Natalie Blanchard. Well, if not let me fill you in. In a nutshell, Blanchard was getting insurance benefits for depression. During that time her insurance company found her enjoying some fun times through pictures she posted on her Facebook page. End result... her insurance company cancels the benefits she was getting for depression because of the pictures she posted on her Facebook page.
So, are you thinking this is an isolated incident? Insurance companies don't really look at people's Facebook pages do they? The answer is Yes. Insurance companies have been using the internet and social networking sites as one among many tools to research insurance claims from their customers. Therefore, you may want to think for a minute who all you want to see your life and who you choose as your friend on your Facebook page.
